Preparing your home for showings

  1. Vacuum and Dust - all rooms including ceiling fans, air vents, blinds, window sills, furniture, plants, carpets and floors.
  2. Clean your kitchen thoroughly including, microwave, stovetop and oven, countertops, dishwasher, sink and refrigerator.
  3. Test garbage disposal - eliminate odors by processing chopped lemons or limes through the disposal.
  4. Declutter pantry, refrigerator, and cabinets and counter tops.
  5. Vacuum and mop kitchen floors.
  6. Clean all your bathrooms thoroughly including shower and tub, all toilets, all sinks, mirrors and fixtures, mop and vacuum floors and very important declutter countertops and cabinets.
  7. Clean your Bedrooms thoroughly including, washing your linens, vacuum and get rid of any stains on the carpet and declutter the room as a whole.
  8. Wash all windows, inside and out.
  9. Hose down front porch and back patio, including any furniture.
  10. Pull weeds and mow lawn regularly.
  11. Clean up any messes from household pets inside and out.
  12. Touch-up paint where necessary inside and out.
  13. Consider rearranging furniture or remove some of the furniture to make rooms appear more spacious.
  14. Remove alcoholic beverages.
  15. It’s a good idea to have several neutral scented automatic home deodorizers, especially if you have pets.
  16. Remove any items that may be controversial. This can be distracting to the buyer’s home previewing experience. For instance, neon bar signs, political memorabilia.
  17. Remove deteriorating items in the yard.
  18. Remove any and all fixtures you plan to take with you.
